FIDA is widely used across Europe, Asia & America. Recently, Hiroshi Kamiyama, PhD  from Eisai Co., Ltd. (Tsukuba ResearchLaboratories), who is working on a new a discovery research of new PROTACs for cancer therapy, TPD, ternary complex formation, as well as analyzing the mechanismsin cells, and analysis of intracellular protein binders, have given us a little brief of how Eisai applies Fida Neo in their research.

What is Esais’ intended application of Fida Neo?

The primary application will be for the evaluation of PROTACs and molecular glues. Specifically,it will be utilized for assessing the propensity of ternary complex formation (alphavalue measurement), binary Kd measurement, and verification of binding with E3 ligands. Additionally, we plan to explore its use for quick and easy binding screenings, such as for the evaluation of E3 protein selection.

What were the key factors in your decision to implement the system?

In comparison to SPR, it is a simple system that you can run without expertise, it does not require an experienced operator to run the system, due to its ease of use. A wide range of buffers can be used, meaning that optimization is kept to a minimum. The software generates an evaluation report of the quality parameters with just a click of a button. Other factors were that we were able to confirm the performance by evaluating in-house compounds using the demo instrument on site.

What do you expect from the system in the future?

The binding affinity (Kd) with the target protein can be measured without fluorescent labeling of the analyte.  Plus, the device can be used as an alternative to SPR when binary Kd measurement is difficult using SPR.

Many thanks to Hiroshi Kamiyama, Ph.D. from Eisai Co., Ltd. Tsukuba Research Laboratories for sharing his insights about FIDA, as well as our Japanese distributor KIKO Tech Ltd. for facilitation of the communication process.
